According to the Powder Coating Institute, powder coating is a dry-finishing process. It is based on a polymer resin system combined with curatives, leveling agents, pigments, flow modifiers, and other additives. These ingredients are melted to mix them. Then, they are cooled and ground into a uniform powder resembling baking flour. To apply the powder, we use a process called electrostatic spray deposition (ESD). This allows the powder coating to be applied to a metal substrate.
